Kouremenos Windsurfing Beach
Definately one of the best beach in Europe for windsurfing.
There are two windsurfing clubs in Kouremenos beach.
You can rent brand new windsurfing equipment.
Vai Palm Beach
The palm beach of Vai (Greek: Βάι) is one of the largest attractions of the Mediterranean island of Crete.
It features the largest natural palm forest in Europe, made up of Cretan Date Palm. Vai is located 24 km east of Sitia and about 6 km from Palaikastro.
Chiona Beach
Chiona's beach is located 300m east of Surf Beach apartments and 2km east of Palekastro. It is a beautiful beach with a length of 300m, white sand, sandy sea bed and shallow waters.
The swimming in the area is safe even for the little children. The beach is not organized but there are several tamarisk trees.
East of the beach there are many small coves with pristine beaches ideal for swimming even naked. Opposite from the beach there are the islands Grantes.
In the area there are fish taverns which are famous for their fresh fish and for their delicious fish soup.
Itanos - Erimoupolis Beach
If you visit Itanos you can combine swimming with a visit to the archaeological site of ancient city Itanos, from which the name of the area was taken. If you like to dive or snorkel you will love to watch the part of the ancient Itanos that is under water.
In order to get to the beaches you will have to follow the paths that lead to them and begin from the archaeological site and parking area.
Erimoupolis beach is located in front of the parking area of the archaeological site.
It's a sandy beach but also has rocks in some places. In the beach there are also some tamarisk trees that offer shadow.
Sitia
Sitia is a hospitable scenic town with population of just over 12,000 residents. It is amphitheatrically on a hillside and embraces the beautiful harbor and the long sandy beach.
